MMM #10 - finally some green!

This dress has eyerything I need right now! It's warm, it's green, it's simple and it's yet another pyjama! 

Dieses Kleid hat einfach alles was ich gerade brauche: es ist warm, es ist grün, es ist einfach und es ist schon wieder fast ein Schlafanzug!

I'm so happy that I lost my fear of sewing with knits - due to good practice with a lot of baby pants and hats. I'm also very happy that I bought this Ottobre design magazine with the shirt/dress basic patterns that I can use and hack for so many things. For this dress I used the raglan sleeve version I had already made a shirt of. It fits me well in the shoulders and I could avoid a gaping back neckline (a problem I often have) by just making the back middle part a bit smaller. 

 

Ich bin so froh dass ich mittlerweile keine Angst mehr vor Stretch-Stoffen habe. Das liegt vor allem daran, dass ich in letzter Zeit viel mit Baby-Hosen und -Mützen (als Geschenke) geübt habe. Ich bin auch froh, dass ich diese Ausgabe vom Ottobre Design-Magazin mit den Basis-Schnitten für Shirts und einfache Kleider gekauft habe. Für dieses Kleid habe ich die Raglan-Version genommen, ein Shirt hatte ich bereits ausprobiert. Der Schnitt sitzt mir gut an den Schultern und außerdem habe ich nicht das Problem mit einem zu weiten Halsausschnitt hinten. Hier kann man einfach am Hinterteil in der Mitte etwas wegnehmen. 

I added my personal design feature by doubling the lower front piece. I hemmed this bit at the top before attaching it when sewing all layers together. I then created two big pockets by sewing the front layers together with a vertical seam. 

Ich habe das Design des Kleids ein bisschen verändert, indem ich den Rock vorne doppelt zugeschnitten habe. Erst habe ich dieses doppelte Teil dann oben versäumt und dann einfach beim Zusammenfügen von Vorder- und Rückenteil mit eingefasst. Um die beiden großen Taschen zu erhalten, hab ich dann einfach am Ende nochmal eine vertikale Naht auf dem Vorderteil gemacht. 

The fabric is a very soft and warm sweat jersey I bought from a Dawanda-Sop (kind of the German etsy) and I used a bit less than 2 metres. My sewing machine  - which was super cheap - has a programme that does a stretch stitch and an overcast stitch at the same time. I only add a very tiny seam allowance to the pattern and then sew along the raw edges. It's super quick, easy and looks neat!

Der Stoff ist ganz kuscheliger und warmer Sweat-Jersey, den ich auf dawanda erstanden habe. Ich habe für das Kleid ein bisschen weniger als 2 Meter gebraucht. Meine wirklich sehr günstige Nähmaschine hat dieses Programm, das gleichzeitig einen Stretch-Stich macht und auch versäubert. Ich gebe zum Schnitt einfach nur eine ganz kleine Nahtzugabe und nähe dann entlang der Schnittkanten. Das ist praktisch, geht schnell und sieht auch noch gut aus!

Dieses Kleid ist eine sehr gute Ergänzung zu meiner Herbstgarderobe und ich bin wirklich glücklich damit! Merkt man gar nicht, oder? Ich schau mir jetzt mal auf dem MMM-Blog an wie die anderen Teilnehmerinnen so mit dem Nass-Kalt umgehen.

MMM #9 from Berlin

Hi again from Berlin! Today is our last day in this lovely city and we're heading north later today. It's also Me-Made-Mittwoch (Me-Made-Wednesday) and I'm showing a new dress. It's a very simple striped dress from a wonderful jersey fabric. I have no idea what kind of fabric this exactly is but it's oh so wonderful. It was easy to sew with, it's warm, it stays in shape even when wet and it has two differently striped sides. I got it for EUR 15 a metre at a local store.

Nochmal Hallo aus Berlin! Heute ist leider schon unser letzter Tag hier, später geht es weiter an die Ostsee. Aber weil Mittwoch ist, und ich selbstgenähtes trage, reihe ich mich noch schnell beim MMM ein. Ich zeige heute ein ganz einfaches Streifenkleidchen, das jetzt schon der Dauerbrenner meiner Herbstgarderobe ist. Genäht ist es aus einem Jersey von Stoffe Müller in Köln (15 EUR/m). Ich weiß mal wieder nicht, wie der Stoff genau zusammengesetzt ist, aber er ist ein absoluter Traum! Schön weich und warm, trotzdem stabil (sogar in nassem Zustand) und dann auch noch zweilagig gestreift!

The pattern I used is from the current issue (05-2013) of Ottobre Design Magazine and it's actually a tunic. so I lengthened the whole thing a bit but left the sleeves at elbow length. This way I could squeeze the dress out of 150 cm of fabric. Thi is the first issue of Ottobre that I actually bought because it has really great basic patterns. I also made a raglan shirt from the same fabric in a different colour and I'm planning to make the coat from the cover as well.

Der Schnitt ist aus der aktuellen Ottobre Design (05-2013) und ursprünglich als Tunika gedacht. Bei meinem Kleid habe ich noch ein bisschen in der Länge hinzugegeben, dafür aber die Ärmel auf Ellbogen-Länge gelassen. So konnte ich alles auf 150cm Stoff unterbringen. Ich habe mir die Zeitschrift zum ersten Mal gekauft weil diese Asugabe so tolle Basis-Schnitte beinhaltet. Ich habe aus dem gleichen Stoff in einer anderen Farbe auch noch ein Raglan-Shirt genäht und außerdem will ich noch die Jacke vom Cover nähen.
